A Day Of Herbs And Milestones

After getting all the chores done, animals fed and watered, washing done, hoover through, swept floors, washed floors, log baskets all filled up, log burner was laid ready for the evening, it was a lovely dry day, it was time to get outside to make a start on the spring tidy up.
The herb bed outside the kitchen was first up
The goats got stuck into the herbs that were cut back, they are still expanding sideways
There that looks better, I need to thin out the mint, I will pot some up to sell on, the rest I will put into the goats paddock, it can spread there if the goats leave it alone long enough, I have 4 kinds of mint in this bed, Every day mint, chocolate mint, orange mint and chewing gum mint.

Next up was the herb beds outside the poly tunnel, they needed weeding, the chick weed was starting to flower so I wanted it out before it seeds everywhere.
The pigs were happy with the weeds and made short work of them.
Nice and tidy again, I have left the couple of dandelions that are in here I will need them for Flash the tortoise when he comes out of hibernation, The comfrey plants are coming well as is the horse radish, I broke up all the surface to let some air into the wet soil.
I did get another half a dozen trees planted today.
The chickens are loving being out in the field, I hope being bigger chickens the Buzzard will leave them alone, they get put back into there run at 4pm.
We have a cabbage thief
I caught Tess red handed eating her way through the spring cabbages.
Today has been a milestone day for Tess, here is a short video of her playing with Sol for the first time.
Its great to see them playing together and to see Tess start to be like a dog should be.
