Not been outside much the past couple of days with high winds and downpours, except for the animal feeds, chores and quick checks on the veggie garden I have been in the cabin, details of what I have been doing are on my craft blog.
New exciting shoots have been appearing
This is a pip that my granddaughter found in her satsuma when they were up visiting over Easter, I offered to plant it for her, there were 4 pips in total this one is now setting leaves
This one is showing signs of growth as well, the other two are doing nothing, I will do my best to grow them on, it will take about 4 years before we could expect anything from them.
I do hope I have another two satsuma trees to join my citrus collection, I only have 1 satsuma tree and it produces the most delicious satsumas.
Great to see them growing, mine are all doing well. My next challenge is Kiwi.
ReplyDeleteKiwi need a fair amount of space otherwise they will become a garden thug, they are really easy to grow here and do fruit :-)
DeleteWow I didn't think they would grow in our climates. I have to experiment myself.
ReplyDeleteyou cant plant them outside, they need to be protected over winter :-)
DeleteI grew 30+ lemon trees from pips, which are planted on our smallholding. Only one tree has a single lemon - that has taken 5 years lol But, at least there are signs that the past 5 years wait was worth it...
ReplyDeleteI shall try oranges and lemons next also want to try from cuttings, I noticed you did some from cuttings :-)
DeleteFound this blog of yours after you commented on mine about getting out your knitting machine. What a wonderful life you have. My husband and I are trying to become more self sufficient too but we are nowhere as far along as you guys. Good for you!
ReplyDeletewelcome, we have been a long time in the planning :-)
