The Early Bird

Day 25 of the duck eggs in the incubator, time to stop turning them so they can get themselves into position for hatching, when I lifted of the lid I found this.
One of them has started to hatch.
there is another one showing signs of activity as well.
I hadn't even got the new heat lamp and brooder out of the box, thinking I have another couple of days, We now have it all set up ready for early arrivals.
It may be a long night waiting for our first little duckling.

Other news, we have been very busy finishing off the poly tunnel
We had a lovely still hot day yesterday ideal for getting the cover on,
The cover is now as tight as a drum, it was hot work, but its done.
Today Martin got the doors on as the sun continued to shine, we had a delivery of another 6 tons of top soil, some is for the asparagus bed, I got 1 ton moved in there this afternoon just one more to go then its all ready for the asparagus which is due to be delivered any day now. The rest of the top soil will go into the tunnel.
Martin got the IBC tanks all washed out today and has been putting them in position, tomorrow the guttering will all go up on the animal shelters then the tanks can be put to use.
Loads of seeds have started germinating and things are really started to take shape.
Hopefully tomorrow I will have news of our new arrivals.

  1. How exciting, can I come and watch. It must have been really hot work doing the poly tunnel yesterday. Your lovely bit of the Welsh mountain is all coming together, I am really pleased for you both.
