Its been a dry cold day, when I went off to the craft group at 9am it was -4 when I came home at lunch time it was 0 and I don't think it rose above that all day.
Two little furry visitors must have thought they would come in from the cold for a free feed
that will teach them to go after the animal feed, they are now residing in the compost bin,
Lambert was full of the joys of spring today
prancing around his field, he usually has a bit of a chat with Kara through the fence when we do the afternoon feed.
He is starting to get a nice looking fleece on him
well to me it looks a nice fleece and I am sure Lambert thinks he is a handsome fella.
The Alpacas fleeces are thickening up as well
The babies are almost as big as there mums now
March the babies will be separated from there mums for weaning. They don't feed very often now from there mums and are happy joining in at feed times , as mums are pregnant they need those last few months to nourish the unborn cria.
Today at lunch time I fried up some Christmas cake in butter
and had it with some cream, it was nice and crispy on the outside and soft and gooey inside, it reminded me of clookie dumpling (Scottish fruit dumpling) that my mum used to fry up in butter.
My new laptop is now all set up, it didn't take long to do and it was really easy you just follow the on screen prompts.
Thank you for all the suggestions for my Kilner Jar, I am still undecided to what fill it with, but I am going to get another one.
Hope you all stay nice and warm in all this cold weather.
Wot no cat?
ReplyDeleteNo cat, neither of us are cat lovers, hubby is allergic to them as well, next door have some cats and they wander over, but we still have mice :-)
DeleteChristmas cake looks good, but I'm trying to lose a few pounds so daren't try it !
ReplyDeleteCake is just left over from christmas, I wont see it thrown out :-)
DeleteI have heard of frying Christmas pudding, but not cake, but it makes total sense as they are so similar aren't they! A great lunch for one! xx
ReplyDeletemakes a change from just eating it as cake :-)
DeleteShould Lambert have some friends or are sheep healthy and happy on their own?

he has the Alpacas either side who he chats to, its still undecided if he is going into the freezer or not or if we add a few bottle fed lambs to the collection :-)
DeleteI could do with catching a few more mice! You've got quite the selection of animals. I'm just making do with chickens and children until the spring! I like the idea of a fried cake!
ReplyDeletePoultry will be on the increase in the spring :-)
DeleteLove the shot of Kara & Lambert!
ReplyDeleteShe inspects the Alpacas in the same way and often goes nose to nose with them rather cute to see :-)
DeleteThe mice seem to be smart, they are outwitting the traps here for now. Your animals are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you I do try hard to keep my animals in a healthy condition but its a fine line between fussing over them too much and let them live a natural as possible life.
DeleteThis post was offensive to me, could you not put your feed into mouse proof containers ?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you find the killing of vermin on smallholdings offensive, loose feed is kept in containers but when you have bags of feed because you need a lot of feed for livestock the mice and rats will chew open the bags and spoil the feed, the same with hay bales I need this feed for the livestock the traps are set in the area were feed is kept, so unless a vermin lover want to purchase me a some large vermin proof shipping containers I will continue to trap them, they are free to live outside as nature intended but not in my feed store.
