Share Your Strawberries With A Friend

After picking a nice bowl of strawberries this morning, I had a cup of tea and shared some with my old friend Flash, he does love a juicy strawberry, he gets it all round his chops. Flash is 18 years old and has been with me for 12 years and every summer we will sit together and share some summer fruit.
Any damaged ones get thrown to the chooks so they get there share as well.
Who do you share yours with ?

  2. Today I shared cherries and loganberries with my husband. We have dozens of wild strawberry plants, tiny fruits but delicious, the cultivated ones are very slow.

Re: Flash - We found an elderly tortoise some years ago - in the kerb. We couldn't find its owner so we kept it until it could be safely rehomed. We were astounded how fast it moved - and the amount of food it ate. It raced round the garden eating everything in sight. I know there are restrictions on buying them now, but I was greatly relieved when it found a new home.

    1. I love my tortoise so easy to look after, he freeranges the garden so eats what he wants, he is not allowed to go into the veg garden but if the gate is left open he shoots in there and hides until I am out of sight then munches his way through the peas.
Its a shame you couldnt keep the tortoise.

    2. I was tempted! But it was a free spirit that refused to be contained. We never knew if he had escaped from a garden or been dumped. He could have been starving but we had him a number of weeks and he never stopped eating. Up until then I never realised how fast they could move either.

I think most animals become part of the family ; so I understand why you love Flash

  5. I like to think I'm good at growing things but strawberries are one thing I always fail at! this year I even planted them in some weed matting and they still look like thy're not going to have any strawberries on them!

  6. How cute your turtle is. Where did you get him? We have a cockatiel that is over 30 years old. His name is Cookie. I bought him when my husband and I were only 1 year married. He used to eat strawberries and other vegetables. He still eats his seed well, but usually sleeps a lot during his days now.
